NCAA Mission, Values and Goals
NCAA Mission The mission of the NCAA national office is to conduct efficiently the business of the Association as directed by the membership, a basic purpose of which is to maintain intercollegiate athletics as an integral part of the educational program and the athlete as an integral part of the student body.
The national office staff is dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of quality and professionalism by working together in an environment that promotes respect, communication and teamwork; by encouraging professional growth and training; by supporting creativity and vision; by seeking out diversity; and by fostering individual empowerment and personal well-being.
NCAA Values Our efforts to fulfill the mission of the national office will be guided by these values:

We understand that our role is to provide leadership and guidance in support of the membership in meeting the purposes of the Association. - Athletics in Higher Education
We understand the role of athletics in higher education and seek to aid the membership in enhancing the student-athlete experience while maintaining the student-athlete as an integral part of the student body. - Quality and Professionalism

NCAA Goals Our efforts to fulfill the mission of the national office will be guided by these goals:
- Support Governance Bodies
To support the Association's governing and administrative bodies to enable them to carry out their charges, foster communication among these bodies and the membership, and assist them in implementing their decisions. - Contribute to the Association's Overall Development of Student-Athletes
To support the Association programs that contribute to the overall development and well-being of the student-athlete; support ethical conduct and sportsmanship; and encourage the pursuit of academics, athletics and personal excellence. - Promote Intercollegiate Athletics
To encourage participation in and support for intercollegiate athletics by celebrating the accomplishments of the student-athlete and promoting NCAA championships and college sports. - Administer National Championships
To administer national championships providing student-athletes with opportunities to compete at the highest level of intercollegiate athletics. - Maintain a Healthy and Productive Work Environment
To maintain the physical and mental well-being of the staff, and by so doing, create a productive environment in which respect for the individual is honored. - Develop and Empower Staff
To provide decision-making authority and opportunities for professional development throughout the staff in order to promote effective leadership, appropriate supervision and efficient service. - Maintain Integrity and Standards of Fair Play
To support effective institutional management and integrity in intercollegiate athletics through compliance with, and enforcement of, standards of fair play and appropriate conduct for student-athletes and institutional representatives. - Communicate NCAA Purposes and Activities
To communicate the NCAA's purposes and to provide timely and accurate information to internal and external publics, so that all groups and individuals have the necessary information to participate in NCAA activities and better understand the actions of the organization. - Community Outreach
To support, in partnership with local communities and NCAA member institutions, outreach programs that develop young people and increase goodwill toward college athletics. - Promote Diversity
To seek a broad diversity of experience and background, at both the membership and national office levels, in addressing the issues facing intercollegiate athletics. - Manage Fiscal Resources
To provide timely, accurate and complete information for financial integrity, decision-making and budgetary implementation, and with approval of the appropriate governance bodies, to maximize and manage the Association's revenue.
