Administrative Review Subcommittee (ARS)

Introduction

What is an Administrative Review Subcommittee (ARS) Waiver?

ARS was created in 1993 as a response to the membership's desire for more rules flexibility.  This group consists of a subcommittee of the NCAA Management Council in each division, which reviews the application of NCAA legislation in cases where the circumstances are extraordinary in nature (Divisions II and III NCAA Bylaw 5.4.1.7, Division I Bylaw 5.4.1.4).  NCAA member institutions, conferences and committees may apply for an ARS waiver when no other committee/subcommittee has the authority to waive specific NCAA legislation for extenuating/extraordinary circumstances.

Available within this section of the Web site are the ARS policies and procedures, the ARS application (which must be completed prior to the staff reviewing the request), ARS request guidelines and information standards, ARS meeting reports, and a link to the LSDBi database in order for member institutions, conferences and committees to be able to review ARS case precedent.

Please contact membership services if you should have specific questions regarding the ARS waiver.
