CHAMPS/Life Skills
Application Process
Each year the NCAA accepts up to 40 active, NCAA member institutions and conference offices into its CHAMPS/Life Skills Program. As a requirement for participation, institutions and conference offices must identify a staff member as the coordinator and must provide the financial resources needed to send a representative to the Orientation Conference the year of admission, and hopefully, to the Continuing Education Conferences each year thereafter. No fee is required to become a part of the CHAMPS/Life Skills Program. However, the conference office or institution is responsible for funding and implementing its program.
The NCAA provides materials, resources, program models and annual conferences for administrators. Applications are mailed to the directors of athletics at NCAA member institutions and the commissioners at NCAA member conference offices each spring and the new class is announced each fall. If you have questions regarding the program, please contact Becky Ahlgren-Bedics at the NCAA. The application process for the class of 2008 is now closed. The deadline was August 1, 2007. Please contact us if you have any questions. Thank you for your interest in the NCAA CHAMPS/Life Skills Program!
