Those
taking part in the telephone conference were:

The
telephone conference began at 11:30 a.m. and the meeting was called to order by
the chair, Mr. Diles.
1. Opening
Remarks. Those in attendance introduced themselves after which Mr. Bray
reviewed the purpose of the telephone conference and the process for selecting
the finalists.
2.
Selection of the Finalists. The
candidates were narrowed to three finalists and one alternate each for the men
and women.
a. The finalists for the men were:
1. Craig Pierstorff, University of
Wisconsin, Oshkosh;
2. Parsa Bonderson, University of
California, Los Angeles; and
3. Matthew Busbee, Auburn University.
The men’s
alternate was James Brawner, Southwest Missouri State University.
b. The finalists for the women were:
1. Catherine L’Armand, Widener University;
2. Ginger Denison, Furman University; and
3. Anna Hallbergson, Barry University.
The women’s alternate was
Rebecca Johnston, Brigham Young University.

Interview Questions. The committee members
decided the topics of the interview questions and who would ask each
question. The questions and which
committee member asks each one will be the same for each candidate. The interview question topics will be:
a. Community service;
b. Academics;
c. Vision for the future;
d. Athletics; and
e. Distinguishing characteristic.
4.
Agenda for the Interviews Meeting.
Mr. Bray reviewed the agenda for the meeting on April 30 – May 1, 2000
at the Hyatt Regency La Jolla.
a. The candidates will be invited to have dinner
with the committee on Sunday, April 30, at 6:00 p.m.
b. The candidates will draw for interview times at the conclusion
of dinner on Sunday evening. There
will be a drawing at that time to determine if the male or female candidates
will interview first. The
interviews will begin at 8:00 a.m. on Monday morning.
c. The committee will then
decide whom the winners and alternates are and conclude business after the
group lunch at 1:00 p.m.
3. Adjournment. The telephone conference adjourned at 12:30 p.m.
