NCAA Walter Byers Scholarship Committee Duties & Responsibilities
COMMITTEE INFORMATION FOR INDIVIDUALS INTERESTED IN POSSIBLY SERVING ON NCAA COMMITTEES
NUMBER OF COMMITTEE MEMBERS:
Five members
Includes one position allocated for a man, one allocated for a woman and three unallocated.
One member from each of the Divisions II and III Management Councils and one from each of the subdivisions in Division I (but not necessarily Management Council members).
GENERAL DUTIES OF COMMITTEE MEMBERS:
The committee shall be responsible for planning and administering the Association?s Walter Byers Scholarship program for student-athletes who have distinguished themselves academically and athletically. More specifically each committee member is involved in:
Reviewing each scholarship application.
Choosing the six finalists (three males and three females).
Interviewing each finalist.
Choosing one male and one female Byers Scholar.
Suggesting changes to the application packet.
