While certain items on the committee's agenda were acted on at various times throughout the meeting, all final actions within a given topic are combined in these minutes for convenience of reference.]
The meeting was called to order at 6 p.m. by the chair, Mr. Lunder. All members were present as noted above.
1. Welcome and Announcements. Mr. Lunder welcomed the committee to San Francisco, especially new committee members John and Woody. He said it is important to consider the three aspects of athletic, academic and community service when reviewing the applications and to balance the scoring.
Mr. Lunder noted that item number five of the minutes from the last meeting should be amended to say the April 22-25, 2004, meeting has been moved from Savannah, Georgia, to Key West, Florida.
It was VOTED
"That the minutes of the June 26-29, 2003, meeting be approved."
2. Review of Applications. The committee reviewed 140 spring sports applications and awarded 29 postgraduate scholarships for men's sports and 29 postgraduate scholarships for women's sports. In addition, five alternates were selected for both men's and women's sports.
3. Review of Correspondences to the Committee.
4. Regional Committee Chairs' Appointment Process. The regional committees' appointments and the process were reviewed and approved.
It was VOTED
"That the regional selection chairs appointments are accepted as presented."
5. Eligibility Process. Mr. Lunder led a discussion about the special circumstances can arise regarding student-athletes' eligibility for the NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship. It was determined that the committee continue to base student-athletes' eligibility on athletics eligibility.
6. Future Meeting Dates and Sites. The committee reviewed a 2005 calendar to determine the application deadlines and meeting dates and sites. The following deadlines and meeting dates and sites were selected:

Winter sports February 18, 2005 March 18, 2005 April 21-24, 2005
Spring sports May 6, 2005 June 3, 2005 June 23-26, 2005
The committee agreed that it would hold the February meeting in San Antonio and the April and June meetings in Indianapolis.
7. Adjournment. The meeting adjourned at 4 p.m. Saturday, February 28, 2004.
