A three-year starter for the University of New England's field hockey program, Kayla has been a member of the team since its inception in 2003. Kayla earned the Coach's Award in her first season, and in 2005, the team co-captain was honored as the squad's most valuable player en route to a first-team all-conference selection. She was named the school's 2006 female scholar athlete of the year.

Also a member of the lacrosse team, Kayla is a two-term president of UNE's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. She is also a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma National College Athlete Honor Society.

Kayla has also succeeded in the classroom, as she has been a member of the dean's list. She is the treasurer for the school's Student Occupational Therapy Association and was also the student delegate representing UNE at the American Occupational Therapy Association's National Conference.

Kayla graduated cum laude with a bachelor's degree in health sciences. She is currently working toward a master of science degree in occupational therapy at UNE, and will once again lead the field hockey team this season.

When Kayla is not shining on the field or in the classroom, she is a mentor to community youth. She volunteers at the local soup kitchen, Read Across America and Beach Clean Up days.
