Amit graduated magna cum laude from Kean University in May 2006 with degrees in economics and finance. As a senior, Amit served as team captain and helped Kean to the finals of the ECAC Metro Region Championship. During Amit's sophomore season, the Cougars compiled a 17-8 record, their best mark in 10 years, and led the nation in field goal percentage defense.  Kean won the 2005 ECAC Metro Region Championship.

In addition to being president of the Kean SAAC, Amit worked as an academic instructor mentor. In that capacity, he served as a finance and economics tutor, and along with a faculty member, taught a freshman seminar. Additionally, he advised students on their academic progress.

Amit was an excellent student who was on the Dean's List every semester and was named the Kean University Academic Student-Athlete in each of his last three years in school. He was a winner of the "Who's Who Among Students in American Universities."

Amit is extremely involved in the community and teaches self defense classes to Kean students, as well as local high school students.

When he is not shooting hoops or tutoring somebody, he is most likely to be found dreaming about homemade Middle Eastern food, visiting friends somewhere or trying to find a tennis match.
