Doug was a four-year letterman and starting offensive tackle on the Otterbein football team. Eight times during his career, Doug was selected as the Otterbein football player of the week. He served as the team's offensive captain as a senior and earned first team all-conference honors for his play on the line. He also garnered ESPN The Magazine All-Academic second-team honors.
A physical science and secondary education major, Doug is a member of the Otterbein Football leadership council and has served as president of the Otterbein SAAC. Prior to joining the national committee, he represented his school on the Ohio Athletic Conference SAAC. Scholarship chairman for Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity, Doug was named the citizen of the year in his home county of Crawford.
Doug is a consistent volunteer for the local football and basketball leagues as both as a coach and referee. He gives his time for other Cardinal student-athletes as he works as a sporting event volunteer and a student employee of the Otterbein athletics department. Doug also serves as a tutor and campus tour guide.
Doug was selected as vice chair of the Division III SAAC in July 2006. He was also chosen to chair the committee's regional leadership conference project team.
