Potential Championship Hosts:
As NCAA senior vice-president for championships and education services, it is my pleasure to share with you the NCAA Division III Championships Host Manual. Over the past few years, the NCAA Division III Championships Committee has made a commitment to creating the best overall experience for student-athletes at all championships. However, in recent years there has been a decrease in the number of institutions wanting to host championship events at the Division III level.
With this in mind, the championships committee gathered information from the institutions that have hosted championships in the past five years. The committee hoped that the information from host institutions would provide useful data on the hosting experience. As a former administrator at the Division III level, I know the importance of institutions hosting championships and the surrounding excitement. Championships offer the student-athletes and local community a great opportunity to come together and experience a special event. Hosting events takes time, effort and commitment, but I believe the rewards for everyone make it worthwhile.
The championships committee produced this manual for the purpose of helping institutions understand the benefits and responsibilities associated with hosting a championship. Although some championship events compete at nonpredetermined sites, we have also provided information for those sports in the event they have predetermined sites in the future. The manual contains information from the NCAA staff as well as athletics directors, administrators and coaches from across the country. Thank you for your support of Division III championships. I hope you will consider hosting a championship event in the future.
Sincerely,

Judith M. Sweet
Senior Vice-President for Championships and Education Services
