Effective Date of "Definition of Professional Athletics Team." For a student-athlete who enrolled in a non-NCAA collegiate institution before August 1, 2002, an institution may evaluate his or her amateur status using either the definition of a professional athletics team in effect before August 1, 2002, or the definition in effect on or after August 1, 2002, whichever definition is most beneficial to the student-athlete.
