Anticipated Action.  Approve the October 27, 2005, meeting minutes.

 

 

3.         Mascot appeals to Executive Committee.

 

Anticipated Actions.  In executive session, review materials submitted by the institutions, the presidential bodies and staff to determine whether Bradley University and the University of North Dakota should be retained on the list of colleges and universities subject to restrictions on the use of Native American mascots, names and imagery at NCAA championships.

b.         University of North Dakota.  (Action)  [Supplement No. 3 was sent under separate cover.] 

 

 

4.         NCAA President’s report. 

 

a.         Committee reduction report.  (Information) 

 

Informational.  Receive an oral report regarding the Association’s progress since the Executive Committee charged NCAA president to examine ways to reduce NCAA committee expenditures and enhance efficiencies.

 

b.         College of William and Mary nickname review.  (Action)  [Supplement No. 4]

 

Anticipated Action.  Approve a review of the College of William and Mary nickname by the NCAA staff review committee to determine if the institution should be on the list of colleges and universities subject to restrictions on the use of Native American mascots, names and imagery at NCAA championships.


5.         NCAA Executive Committee Finance Committee report.

 

Anticipated Actions.  Actions will be taken to approve 2004-05 and 2005-06 NCAA financial statements, as well as approve uses of unallocated net assets.

b.         Fiscal year 2004-05 audited statements.  (Action)  [Supplement No. 6 will be distributed at the meeting.]

6.         Proposal from President Kupchella, University of North Dakota.  (Action)  [Supplement No. 10] 

 

Anticipated Action.  Review a membership proposal to eliminate divisions except on a sport-by-sport basis from President Charles Kupchella, University of North Dakota.

 

 

7.         Centennial celebration.  (Information) 

 

Informational.  Receive an oral report on the success of the NCAA Centennial kick-off at the 2006 NCAA Convention.

 

 

8.         Litigation update.  (Information)  [Supplement No. 11 will be available at the meeting.]

 

Informational.  Receive an update from the NCAA general counsel regarding litigation and settlement actions.    

 


9.         NCAA Division I Board of Directors and Divisions II and III Presidents Councils reports.  (Action may be necessary from the reports.)

 

Informational.  Receive oral reports from the chairs of the Division I Board of Directors and the Divisions II and III Presidents Councils regarding divisional issues that have Association-wide impact.    

 

 

10.        NCAA Executive Committee Administrative Subcommittee report.  (Information)  [Supplement No. 12]

 

Informational.  Receive a report of actions taken by the Administrative Subcommittee to approve future NCAA Convention dates/sites and to approve a recommendation from the NCAA Committee on Competitive Safeguards and Medical Aspects of Sports to create exceptions to examples of banned drugs on the banned drug classes list without legislative action . 

 

 

11.        Governmental relations report.  (Information)  [Supplement No. 13]

 

Informational.  Receive a written report regarding governmental relations issues relevant to the NCAA.
