For Bylaw 20 Scheduling Requirements
An institution currently in the reclassifying or provisional process, or an institution seeking multidivision status for a single sport, may be counted as Division I opponent for Division I scheduling requirements in the year that institution or sport program is required comply with the Division I scheduling requirements. Currently, legislation requires multidivision, reclassifying and provisional institutions to apply the scheduling requirements in Year Two of the multidivision, reclassifying or provisional process.
For RPI Purposes
For Ratings Percentage Index (RPI) purposes, a reclassifying institution could be counted in the Division I RPI in the applicable sport during its Year One of reclassifying, provisional or multidivision process, provided it can meet the Division I scheduling requirements in that sport. The institution must notify the applicable Division I sport committee that it will be satisfying those requirements prior to the season by sending in a copy of its final schedule by September 15 of the year in which it wishes to be included in the Division I RPI.
