NCAA Division I Women’s Rowing Committee

INFORMATIONAL ITEM.

Rowing Bracket. The committee will be recommending for the September meeting that the rowing championship bracket size be increased to 16 full teams (68 additional individuals). The bracket for all team sports are determined by participation numbers (sponsorship percentage). Women’s rowing has a sponsorship of 29 percent; it would justify a bracket size of 16 teams. For the sport of rowing, a full team is defined as two eight boats and one four boat.

The committee believes allowing 16 institutions to bring their full teams will provide more opportunities for student-athletes from those institutions. In addition, all institutions selected to the championship will have the opportunity to win the national championship.
