NCAA DIVISION I WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL COMMITTEE

ACTION ITEM.

Automatic Qualification.

1. Recommendation. That the following 31 conferences receive automatic-qualification privileges for the 2007 NCAA Division I Women’s Volleyball Championship: America East Conference, Atlantic Coast Conference, Atlantic Sun Conference, Atlantic 10 Conference, Big East Conference, Big Sky Conference, Big South Conference, Big Ten Conference, Big 12 Conference, Big West Conference, Colonial Athletic Conference, Conference USA, Horizon League, Ivy Group, Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, Mid-American Conference, Mid-Continent Conference, Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, Missouri Valley Conference, Mountain West Conference, Northeast Conference, Ohio Valley Conference, Pacific-10 Conference, Patriot League, Southeastern Conference, Southern Conference, Southland Conference, Southwestern Athletic Conference, Sun Belt Conference, West Coast Conference, and the Western Athletic Conference.

2. Rationale. A total of 31 eligible conferences applied for automatic qualification. The Rating Percentage Index was used to determine the automatic-qualifying conferences.

3. Estimated Budget Impact. None.

4. Student-Athlete Impact. None.

INFORMATIONAL ITEM.

Committee Chair. Marie Robbins, associate athletics director and senior woman administrator at the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, will be the chair of the NCAA Division I Women’s Volleyball Committee.
