REPORT OF THE

NCAA COMMITTEE ON SPORTSMANSHIP AND ETHICAL CONDUCT

 

 

ACTION ITEMS.

 

Issue/Subject.

 

1.      Recommendation.  That standard NCAA championships venue language concerning sports wagering be developed for use in all NCAA championships. 

 

2.      Effective Date.  August 1, 2008

 

3.      Rationale.  The committee believes that it is in the best interests of all student-athletes, institutions and the NCAA for all sports to use the language currently being used: 

 

"No session of an NCAA championship may be conducted in a metropolitan area with legal wagering that is based upon the outcome of any event (i.e., high school, college or professional) in a sport in which the NCAA conducts a championship."

5.      Student-Athlete Impact.  None.
