The meeting was called to order on Friday, January 6 at 7:00 p.m. by the chair, Mr. Wellman. All members noted above were present.
1. Opening remarks. Ron Wellman, as chair, welcomed Dan
Beebe representing the Big 12 Conference, Judy MacLoud representing Conference USA,
Lisa Parker representing Western Athletic Conference, Rose Shea
representing the Patriot League, and Larry Templeton representing the
Southeastern Conference as alternates. Mr. Wellman also welcomed and introduced
NCAA intern Jaime Fluker.
2. Report
from the Division I Administrative Committee on interim actions. Kate
Hickey, Management Council vice chair presented the report.
3. Report
from the Committee on Academic Performance. Walter Harrison,
chair of the committee along with NCAA staff members Julie Cromer, Diane
Dickman, Kevin Lennon and Todd Petr joined the
meeting to present the report of the Committee on Academic Performance.
4. Update from the Division I Regional
Leadership Conference. Ian
Gray and Mike Piscetelli of the Division I Student-Athlete
Advisory Committee members along with NCAA staff member Curtis Hollomon
presented this update.
Additionally, Division I Management Council
members Jackie Campbell, Kate Hickey and
Regina Markland participated in this presentation.
5. Update
on plans for the Amateurism Clearinghouse. NCAA staff members Kevin
Lennon and Bill Saum provided an update on the plans for the development of the
NCAA Amateurism Clearinghouse.
