ADMINISTRATIVE
REVIEW SUBCOMMITTEE
ACTION ITEMS.

INFORMATIONAL ITEMS.
1. Spring
Meeting Agenda Items. The NCAA Division I
Management Council Administrative Review Subcommittee will meet via telephone conference
on April 12 and in person on April 15 to discuss the following issues:
a.
Potential
information standards for waiver requests of NCAA Bylaw 14.1.9 (graduate
student/postbaccalaureate participation) for the 2007-08 academic year and
thereafter due to the membership’s override of NCAA Proposal No. 2005-54.
b.
Review
the waiver requests received for Bylaw 15.3.3.1 (one-year period).
c.
Review
of waiver requests and potential legislative proposals for Bylaw 16.8.1.2.1
(departure/return expense restrictions).
d.
Review
of staff and subcommittee decisions for the 2006 fall term.
2. Proposal No.
2006-62 (eligibility – seasons of competition – tennis and swimming
and diving - exception – mandatory military service). During its October 9, 2006, teleconference,
the subcommittee reviewed the status of Proposal No. 2006-62 and noted that the
cabinet was not supportive. The subcommittee
noted that depending on the outcome of this proposal, the review and/or
analysis of these waiver requests will change. The subcommittee noted that if the
proposal is defeated in April 2007, the waiver process will be available for
those individuals enrolling for the 2007-08 academic year or thereafter;
however, due to the membership’s nonsupportive stance regarding the
proposed exception, the circumstances of mandatory military, in and of itself,
will not result in relief from the legislation.
