NCAA DIVISION I COMMITTEE ON ATHLETICS CERTIFICATION

ACTION ITEM.

· Legislative Action Item.

· Amend NCAA Division I Bylaw 33.3.1 – Determination of Schedule.

(1) Recommendation. The NCAA Division I Committee on Athletics Certification recommends the NCAA Division I Management Council amend NCAA Division I Bylaw 33.3.1. [Attachment A]

(2) Effective Date. August 1, 2007.

(3) Rationale. The athletics certification program is approaching the end of its second cycle with the third cycle beginning 2008-09. In determining the third-cycle certification schedule, the committee proposes adding new language to this bylaw in order to provide the committee flexibility in scheduling to facilitate an even and balanced distribution of institutions progressing through each class of the cycle.
