The Presidents Council considered the recent discussions by the NCAA Division II Budget and Finance Committee to identify surplus money from the 2004-05 Division II budget to use toward hurricane relief. In the past, such surplus funds have been used to fund a supplemental distribution to the Division II membership.

The Presidents Council also heard a report from Dennis Cryder about a recent initiative by President Myles Brand for the NCAA and Habitat for Humanity® to partner to establish the “Home Team” project that will raise funds and provide volunteer labor to assist in the long-term rebuilding efforts in the Gulf coast areas.

It was VOTED

“That the Presidents Council approve $1,000,000 from the 2004-05 Division II surplus to support the NCAA’s and Habitat for Humanity’s® “Home Team” project.”
