Stephen Jordan, Metropolitan State College of Denver, serving in a Region 4 position.
Jordan joined the Metropolitan State campus last year after a seven-year stint as president of Division I Eastern Washington University, where he also was a professor of public administration. He is known for reorganizing the athletics department at both schools to report directly to the president.
At Eastern Washington, Jordan chaired the Big Sky Conference's presidents council, a board on which he served for seven years. He also was a member of and NCAA presidential advisory group that reported to the Division I Board of Directors.
Before becoming a college president, Jordan served as executive director of the University of Kansas board of regents for four years and as the deputy executive director for the University of Arizona board for 14 years before that. He also has board experience at the University of Colorado, Boulder.
Jordan earned a bachelors degree in political science from the University of Northern Colorado in 1970, a masters in financial administration from the University of Colorado at Denver in 1979 and a Ph.D. in public administration from the same school in 1990.
Beverley Pitts, University of Indianapolis, serving in a Region 3 position.
Pitts became the eighth president and the first female president in the 103-year history of Indianapolis in July 2005.
Before that, she was provost and vice president for academic affairs at Ball State University, where she oversaw seven academic colleges and 900 faculty. She served in several roles at Ball State since 1985, including as the university's acting president in 2004. She began her tenure there as director of the graduates studies program in journalism.
Pitts earned her bachelors degree in English from Anderson University (Indiana) in 1968. She also has a masters in journalism and a doctorate in education from Ball State.
Pitts has been active as a practicing journalist, writing consultant and reviewer. She also is a consultant to the National Football League Players Association, for which she has assisted with development of a scholarship program, and the design and implementation of research projects.
Hamid Shirvani, California State University, Stanislaus, serving in a Region 4 position.
The Cal State Stanislaus president has been involved in higher education for almost three decades, 19 years in senior executive leadership roles. One of Shirvani's priorities at the Turlock, California, campus is to create a "college town" atmosphere that aligns with Division II's community-engagement initiative.
Before taking his current position in 2005, Shirvani was provost and executive vice president for academic affairs at Chapman University for five years. He also has served as a vice president at Queens College (New York) and as a dean at the University of Massachusetts at Lowell and the University of Colorado at Denver. In addition, Shirvani has been the director of the school of urban policy at the University of Louisville.
Shirvani earned his bachelors degree from Polytechnic of Central London in 1974. He has a masters degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1977 and a Ph.D. from Princeton University in 1980.

The Management Council elected the following individuals to the Council, effective at the conclusion of the 2007 Division II business session unless otherwise noted.
Tim Selgo, director of athletics, Grand Valley State University (representing the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference)
Selgo enters his 11th year as athletics director at Grand Valley State and has guided the athletics department to three straight United States Sports Academy Directors' Cups. In 2005-06 in fact, the Lakers accumulated a Directors' Cup record 974.75 points behind national championships in football, women's basketball and women?s volleyball.
Grand Valley State also has won eight consecutive Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference President's Cup titles as the top athletics program in the 13-team GLIAC. The Lakers have won 60 league titles since 2000.
Before being named to his current post at Grand Valley State, Selgo served as an associate athletics director at the University of Toledo for eight years. He was a standout basketball player at Toledo from 1977-80, earning four varsity letters. Selgo was part of two Mid-American Conference championship teams (1978-79 and 1979-80) and was co-captain of the 1979-80 squad. He still holds the school record for single-season free-throw percentage.
Selgo graduated from Toledo in 1980 with a bachelors degree in physical education and a minor in mathematics. He remained at Toledo as a graduate assistant for the men's basketball program and earned his masters degree in education administration in 1982. He served as an assistant men's basketball coach at Toledo from 1982-85 before serving as head women's basketball coach for three years.
Jim Johnson, director of athletics, Texas A&M University-Commerce (representing the Lone Star Conference)
Johnson is in his second year as the director of athletics, after having served two years as an associate athletics director for development and the director of government relations at the University of Central Missouri.
Before his tenure at Central Missouri, Johnson spent five years working at the NCAA national office in multiple roles, starting as a membership services representative before advancing into a role as a membership coordinator and Division II governance liaison. Before that, he was a compliance coordinator and assistant to the athletics director at Tarleton State University for seven years.
After working with the NCAA, Johnson worked as a law-firm consultant working with the NCAA Division II Conference Commissioners Association, the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletics Conference and the Great Lakes Valley Conference.
Johnson has served on the NCAA Division II Championships Eligibility Project Team and is a current member of the Community Advisory Group and chair of the Membership Committee.
Karen Stromme, senior woman administrator, University of Minnesota Duluth (representing the North Central Conference)
Stromme has 23 years of athletics administration experience, including as assistant athletics director and senior woman administrator at Minnesota Duluth since 2004. Before that, she was the school?s head women?s basketball coach for 21 years.
She took that post as the age of 24 and went on to amass a 440-184 record, capture 12 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference championships and earn eight NCAA Division II playoff berths. A group of Bulldog alumni recently honored the longtime coach by establishing the Karen Stromme Women's Basketball Scholarship.
Stromme is a member of the Division II Community Advisory Group and has served previously on selection committees for Division II basketball awards. She also chaired the USA Basketball National Team Committee charged with selecting participants for the 1996 and 2000 Olympic teams.
She earned her bachelors degree from St. Olaf College in 1982 and a masters in education at Minnesota Duluth in 2005.
Ann Martin, senior woman administrator, Regis University, (representing the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference) -- term effective immediately
Martin is in her second year as the assistant athletics director for compliance, marketing and promotions at Regis (Colorado). She also is the school's designated senior woman administrator.
She previously served as an assistant commissioner at the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference since 2004. Martin also served at the league as a compliance graduate assistant and as the interim assistant commissioner.
Before her stint at the RMAC, Martin was an assistant women's basketball coach at Colorado State University-Pueblo for two years, also serving in compliance and with student development.
Martin earned her bachelors degree from Rockhurst University in 2001, where she was captain of the basketball team. She earned her masters degree from the University of Northern Colorado in 2005.

And, finally, the Division II Presidents Council filled the two leadership positions in the governance structure for the coming year. The presidents re-elected Charles Ambrose, Pfeiffer University, to another term as chair of the Presidents Council and ratified the appointment of Dave Brunk, Northeast-10 Conference Commissioner, to succeed Jill Willson, Texas A&M University-Kingsville, as chair of the Division II Management Council beginning at the conclusion of the 2007 Convention. Both men will serve until their terms on the respective Councils expire after the 2008 Convention.
