This request is to address the initiatives included in the Committee on Women’s Athletics Strategic Plan and the directives supported by the NCAA Executive Committee Subcommittee on Gender and Diversity Issues.

The CWA and MOIC have been directed by the Executive Committee Subcommittee on Gender and Diversity Issues to monitor the progress of the Executive Committee Subcommittee on Gender and Diversity Issues Audit Report.  It is necessary that the CWA and MOIC meet jointly at least one time per year to address the initiatives in this report.  Meetings and conference calls with the subcommittee currently take place approximately three times per year; and it is necessary for CWA and MOIC to address the directives of the subcommittee in response to action or nor-action to the issues outlined in the audit.

The CWA and MOIC held the Summit on Athletics Opportunities for Minority Women in January 2002 to enhance opportunities for ethnic minority females in the areas of participation, coaching, administration and officiating.  The Division I, II, and III Management Councils approved a third meeting for CWA and MOIC for 2002-03 with the understanding that the third meeting would be held in conjunction with the fourth Summit on Athletics Opportunities for Minority Women.  The participants in the summit have been asked to meet and to provide a summary of funds distributed and the resulting projects during the January 2003 meeting.  A third meeting for CWA and MOIC will be needed to address the anticipated outcomes of this fourth summit meeting.
