Summary of Recommendations

 

 

PRESIDENS COUNCIL ACTION ITEM

 

1.

ISSUE:

Membership Education – Supplemental Mailing for 2002 Convention.

Committee’s Recommendation:

 

That the chairs of the Presidents Council and Management Council send a “supplemental mailing” to the Division III membership highlighting the (a) financial aid, (b) amateurism deregulation and (c) provisional membership proposals for consideration at the 2002 NCAA Convention.

Management Council Recommendation:

 

Approve the recommendation, noting the addition of an automatic qualification (AQ) update, as recommended by the Championships Committee.

 

 

ACTION ITEMS – MANAGEMENT COUNCIL ONLY

 

1.

ISSUE:

Knickerbocker Lacrosse Conference.

Committee’s Recommendation:

 

Grant membership status to the Knickerbocker Lacrosse Conference as a single-sport member conference.

Management Council Action:

 

Approved the recommendation.

 

 

ITEMS OF INFORMATION

 

1.

ISSUE:

Rules Test.

Committee’s Action:

 

The Division III rules test was sent to the entire Division III membership in September. Future versions will be updated on the NCAA Web site for use by the membership.

Management Council Action:

 

Accepted the information.


 

2.

ISSUE:

Provisional Member Violation Penalty Schedule.

Committee’s Action:

 

The committee is exploring the creation of a penalty schedule to be applied to provisional members who are not in compliance with Division III legislation. Based on these
discussions, the committee may recommend that a provisional member may be able to move forward in provisional membership if the school was not in compliance with “minor” legislation.

Management Council Action:

 

Accepted the information.

 

3.

ISSUE:

Membership Breakdown.

Committee’s Action:

 

The committee provided the membership breakdown as of September 1, 2001.
