The committee discussed the lack of opportunities to enhance development of ethnic minority male administrators to assume positions of leadership in intercollegiate athletics. To assist in developmental efforts, the committee developed a working model for the Leadership Institute for Ethnic Minority Males, determining to focus on the areas of: human resource management; leadership and administration; finance and fundraising; and booster public and media relations. |

Video to Promote Careers in Intercollegiate Athletics. |
Committee’s Recommendation: |

|
The committee finalized content and distribution strategies for a video to promote careers in intercollegiate athletics to student-athletes, entitled "Whoever Thought a Passion Could Turn Into a Career." The video’s target audience is ethnic minority and women student-athletes, and should serve to increase ethnic minority administrators and coaches in the profession. |

The committee approved the MOIC strategic plan as revised during the July 12-14, 2000, meeting. |

Executive Committee Subcommittee on Gender and Diversity Issues Five-Year Budget Plan. |
Committee’s Recommendation: |

As requested by the Executive Committee Subcommittee on Gender and Diversity Issues, the committee met jointly with the Committee on Women’s Athletics (CWA) to prioritize initiatives to promote gender and ethnic diversity issues for FY 2001-02, as identified in the Five-Year Budget Plan. |

Summit on Athletic Opportunities for Minority Women. |
Committee’s Recommendation: |

|
The committee agreed on the importance of hosting with CWA the Summit on Athletic Opportunities for Minority Women in order to monitor progress and future initiatives of summit participants. The committees jointly developed a working agenda to include an emphasis on the professional development of coaches. |

|
The committee continues to be concerned about the lack of accurate data to assess equity in officiating high profile sports. The committee will focus their attention on monitoring the selection of officials in the upcoming year. |
