JOINT REPORT OF THE NCAA COMMITTEE ON WOMEN’S ATHLETICS

AND MINORITY OPPORTUNITIES AND INTERESTS COMMITTEE

Summary of Recommendations

ITEMS OF INFORMATION

1.	ISSUE:	Search Process for NCAA President.
Committee Action:
	The committees discussed the search process and agreed that it was important for the search committee composition to be diverse as well as the pool of candidates. The chairs of MOIC and CWA will jointly forward a letter to the chair of the Executive Committee outlining the concerns.
Management Council Action:
	Accepted the information.
2.	ISSUE:	Advanced Diversity Education Workshops to Address Issues Related to Race, Gender and Sexual Orientation.
Committee Action:
	The committees received an update on the selection process to determine the consultants to develop curriculum, materials and facilitate the workshops in preparation for the 2003 Convention. Full-Circle Diversity/Critical Measures was selected.
Management Council Action:
	Accepted the information.
3.	ISSUE:	Joint Budget Request.
Committee Action:
	The committees reviewed and approved the joint 2002-04 biennial budget requests.
Management Council Action:
	Accepted the information.
4.	ISSUE:	Future Joint Meetings.
Committee Action:
	The committees discussed the regularity of their meetings and noted that increased frequency will improve communication and cooperation between the committees. The committees agreed to continue meeting each January and begin meeting every other fall to develop the joint budget.
Management Council Action:
	Accepted the information.
