JOINT SUBCOMMITTEE ON THE FUTURE OF DIVISION III

ACTION ITEM
July/August Update.
Review and approve the Oversight Group's
recommendations on the work of each subgroup (championships, eligibility and
recruiting, financial aid, membership, and playing and practice seasons)
contained in the status reports.
Each subgroup met twice via conference call. The Oversight Group met via conference call March 26 and
July 10. (Attachment
A)

a.
Charge and Timeline of the Subcommittee.
The Oversight Group reviewed the charge and
timeline. The Oversight Group
eliminated its August 7 in-person meeting to provide additional time for
subgroup work via conference calls in September and October. The Oversight Group agreed to conduct
an in-person meeting October 30 in conjunction with the NCAA Division III
Presidents Council meeting to review all subgroup work, discuss a membership
communication in November and prepare for the 2003 NCAA Convention discussion
session. The NCAA Division III
Management Council is requested to review and comment on the revised timeline. (Attachments B
and C)
