NCAA COACHES ACADEMY

The Executive Coaching Program

 

 

Schedule:  The Executive Coaching Program will be conducted for a 12-month period beginning January 1 and concluding December 31 annually.  Participants will meet with each of their assigned mentors once during the 12-month period. 

 

 

Participants:  The Executive Coaching Program is designed for ethnic minority football coaches with the skills and experience to succeed as head coaches at the Division I-A level.  Ethnic minority head coaches at Division I-AA and Division II as well as assistant and coordinator coaches at all levels with a minimum of eight (8) years of experience are eligible to participate.  For the purposes of the program, ethnic minorities are described pursuant to the Federal Guidelines of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB):  American Indian or Native Alaskan; Asian or Pacific Islander; African American or Black; Latino or Hispanic.

 

 

Institutional Responsibilities:  Institutions shall support eligible coaches for participation in the Executive Coaching Program.  Upon enrollment, the participant must attend the introductory meeting as well as one meeting with each of their assigned mentors during the 12-month period.  There are no fees to participate. 

 

 

Coaches Academy Responsibilities:  The Executive Coaching Program shall provide each participant a veteran, high-profile head coach and an athletics administrator (directors of athletics or conference commissioners) to assist with career development, networking and exposure opportunities.  In addition, all travel-related costs to meet with the assigned mentors will be provided by the program.

 

 

Executive Coach Responsibilities:  Executive Coaches will meet with the assigned participant one time during the 12-month period.   In addition, Executive Coaches will maintain an appropriate level of contact with the participant through telephone and written communication. 

 

 

Application Procedure: 

·         Select coaches will be invited to participate in the Executive Coaching Program.

 

·         The Executive Coaching Program will enroll not more than 5 coaches in the pilot year.

 

 

Administration: The NCAA will administer the Executive Coach Program.   The NCAA will partner with the AFCA and the BCA in support of the program.
