Proposed Expansion of NCAA Year-Round Testing

The NCAA year-round drug-testing plan currently is operated according to the following parameters:

The year-round program since its inception in 1990 has been focused on drug deterrence for high-risk sports for steroid use. Due to a number of factors, including the addition of ephedrine testing in August 2002, the question of whether additional NCAA sports should be added to the year-round program has been raised. The following tables summarize steroid and ephedrine use statistics from the 2001 national drug use study.
