NCAA HONORS COMMITTEE

 

 

INFORMATION ITEMS.

 

Association-wide.

 

a.                  2005 Silver Anniversary Award Selections.  The committee selected the following honorees for the Silver Anniversary Award:  Joan Benoit Samuelson, Mark Johnson, Gary Lawrence, Paul McDonald, Greg Meredith, and David J. Stoldt.  No alternates were chosen.

 

b.                  Top VIII Award selections.  The committee selected eight individuals.

 

(1)        Division I. The committee selected Caesar Garcia (Auburn University); Tara Kirk (Stanford University); Kelly Mazzante (Pennsylvania State University); Oganna Nnamani (Stanford University); Angela Ruggiero (Harvard University) and Kelly Wilson (University of Texas at Austin).

 

(2)        Division II.  The committee selected Kelly Albin (University of California, Davis).

 

(3)        Division III.  The committee selected Kay Mikolajczak (University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh).

 

c.         Theodore Roosevelt Award Selection.  The committee selected Dr. Sally Ride as the 2004 Theodore Roosevelt Award recipient. 

 

d.         2005 Inspiration Award recipients.  The committee selected: Kaia Jergenson (Lipscomb University), Michelle Thomas (University of Oklahoma) and Macharia Yuot (Widener University). 

 

e.         2005 Honors Dinner.  The 2005 Honors Dinner will be held Sunday, January 9, 2005, in the Texas Ballroom of the Gaylord Texan Resort.  Rece Davis was selected as master of ceremonies for the 2005 NCAA Honors Dinner.

 

f.          2005 Honors Committee Meeting.  The committee decided that the selection meeting would be October 7, 2005, in Indianapolis.
