Increase student-athletes’ and administrators knowledge of NCAA rules.  Specifically, increase knowledge of the resources, opportunities, responsibilities and protections available to them as both students and athletes.

1.        Prepare a handout of NCAA rules that are specifically relevant to current student-athletes participating in USOC/NCAA-approved activities.  Include a section for frequently asked questions.

2.        Distribute this handout to institutions’ athletics directors, conference commissioners and compliance coordinators (e.g., various listserves, regional seminars, CCACA mailing, NCAA website).

3.        Distribute this handout to the USOC and NGB's for distribution to NCAA student-athletes.

Increase the knowledge and understanding of NCAA rules and regulations by the USOC and the NGB’s.

1.        Update and enhance the OSLC handbook and move to the NCAA’s OSLC Web page.  Include the FAQ document within the handbook.

2.        Send a link of the online handbook to all NGB headquarters.

3.        Disseminate interpretation processing document to NGB’s.

Support the adoption of legislation that would be beneficial to Olympic Sport student-athletes to allow them full participation, without restriction on their NCAA eligibility.

1.    Provide a web link of proposed legislation to the NGB’s in early fall.

2.    Obtain feedback from NGB’s regarding proposed legislation each fall and provide feedback to full OSLC committee.

3.    OSLC reviews feedback from NGB’s and formulates position.

4.    Develop OSLC report to go to the Legislative Review Committees in each Division.

Develop methods to promote student-athletes, conference members, and institutions as potential recipients of USOC and NGB grants.

Educate regarding the use of banned substances.

Prepare an educational document that the CSMAS will produce in conjunction with the Center for Drug Free Sport on the differences between NCAA, USADA and WADA banned substances and procedures.  This can be given to the NGB’s and the USOC so they can educate their athletes who also compete in the NCAA.

Research International student-athlete issue.

Study the influence of international student-athlete impact on domestic student-athlete participation at NCAA member schools.
