Consideration
of NCAA Bylaw 14.5 – Transfer Regulations. The subcommittee considered a situation
in which a student-athlete transfers each semester between two NCAA Division
III institutions in order to play a fall sport at institution No. 1 and a
spring sport at institution No. 2.
The subcommittee determined that this issue is not nationally
significant to warrant a change of legislation at this time. Rationale for the subcommittee's decision
was based on the assertion that this situation is an anomaly and not likely to
become a common practice, and that most institutions have academic policies
that would eliminate the possibility of transferring between institutions every
semester. The subcommittee asked
the staff to monitor the prevalence of this activity in the future.
