ACADEMIC ISSUES SUBCOMMITTEE

INFORMATIONAL ITEM.

· Waiver of NCAA Bylaw 14.1.9.2 – NCAA Championship after Last Term of Eligibility. The NCAA Division III Management Council Academic Issues Subcommittee approved the request of New York University to waive the 60-day requirement when an NCAA championship is conducted at the conclusion of the traditional playing season but begins more than 60 days after the end of the term. The subcommittee noted that a student-athlete who graduates in three and one-half years should be given a similar window of opportunity as those student-athletes in an accelerated academic degree program or 90 days from the conclusion of the student-athlete’s last term.
