The NCAA Division III Membership Committee teleconference was called to order at 9:33 a.m. Central time by Mr. Malloy.  All were present as noted above.

 

 

1.      Review of Previous Minutes.  The committee reviewed the minutes from its March 17 teleconference.

 

It was VOTED

 

"That the March 17 minutes be approved as distributed."

 

 

2.      Immaculata College Request for Waiver of Five-Sport/Three Season Requirement – NCAA Constitution 3.2.4.12.6.  On its review of Immaculata College's request to waive the five-sport/three-season requirement for its newly admitted male student-body, the committee noted that the institution submitted a strong plan to sponsor the requisite programs for males within the three year period allowed by this waiver.

 

It was VOTED

 

"That Immaculata's request for a waiver of the five-sport/three-season requirement per Constitution 3.2.4.12.6 be approved."

 

 

4.      Emmanuel College Request for Waiver of Minimum Contest and Participant Requirement – NCAA Bylaw 20.11.3.3.9.1.  On its review of Emmanuel College's request to waive the minimum contest and participant requirements for sports sponsorship, the committee noted that the institution had ample time between the event cancellation and the end of the season to schedule an additional contest.  

 

It was VOTED

 

"That Emmanuel's request for a waiver of the minimum contest and participant requirements per Bylaw 20.11.3.3.9.1 be denied."

 

 

5.     Review Definitions of Probation and Restricted Membership.  The committee reviewed legislative drafts of the definition of probation and restricted membership and made editorial comments.  The legislative drafts are subject to approval by the NCAA Division III Management Council at its July meeting.

 

 

6.       Future Meetings.

 

a.               June 23-24, 2005; Indianapolis, Indiana; and

 

b.              January 26-27, 2006; Tucson, Arizona, tentative.

 

 

7.       Adjournment.  The meeting was adjourned at 10:05 a.m.
