3.   Communication and Technology Initiatives.

 

a.      Improve interactive communication with national office (e.g., Web page, NCAA Online).

 

b.      MONITOR AND EVALUATE DIVISION III TECHNOLOGY INITIATIVES.

 

c.      IDENTIFY WAYS TO ENHANCE COMMUNICATION WITH DIVISION III CONSTITUENTS, ESPECIALLY CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICERS.

 

d.      Evaluate Web-based system for submission of Division III initiatives (conference technology and SAAC grants; initiative grants).

 

e.      Identify ways to enhance Association-wide communication.

 

 


4.   Diversity.

 

a.      Promote educational initiatives among key NCAA, Division III, conference and campus constituent groups.

 

b.      Promote gender and ethnic diversity within conferences and athletics departments.

 

(1)     Evaluate data on hiring and promotion of women and minority interns, coaches, senior woman administrators, faculty athletics representatives and administrators.

 

(2)     Evaluate NCAA data on participation of women and minority student-athletes in Division III.

 

(3)     IMPLEMENT DIVISION III NCAA FELLOWS PROGRAM.

 

c.      EVALUATE STRATEGIC INITIATIVES TO ADDRESS DIVERSITY.

 

 

5.      Enhance Sportsmanship and Ethical Conduct.

 

a.      Pursue opportunities to promote positive sportsmanship and ethical conduct – promote Division III submission of nominees for Sportspersons of the Year award.

 

b.      EVALUATE STRATEGIC INITIATIVES TO ADDRESS SPORTSMANSHIP AND ETHICAL CONDUCT.

 

 

6.      Enhance Division III Identity.

 

a.      Pursue greater publicity for Division III.

 

b.      CLARIFY AND PURSUE OPPORTUNITIES UNDER NEW CHAMPIONSHIPS BROADCAST AGREEMENTS.

 

c.      CLARIFY AND IMPLEMENT BROADCASTING, BRANDING AND PROMOTIONS INITIATIVES.

 

d.      CLARIFY RELATIONSHIP WITH CORPORATE PARTNERS.

 

e.      EDUCATE THE MEMBERSHIP AND RELATED CONSTITUENCIES ON THE NCAA PUBLIC AFFAIRS PLAN – ENCOURAGE PARTICIPATION OF “NCAA CHAMPIONS.”


7.      NCAA Governance Process.

 

a.      Monitor and refine budget process.

 

(1)     EVALUATE ESTABLISHED 20 PERCENT RESERVE AND MONITOR INTERIM 15 PERCENT RESERVE.

 

(2)     MONITOR AND EVALUATE CHAMPIONSHIPS BASE BUDGET ADJUSTMENTS THROUGH STAFF MONITORING OF EACH CHAMPIONSHIP.

 

(3)     PERFORM QUARTERLY MONITORING OF BUDGET-TO-ACTUALS AND REPORT TO CHAMPIONSHIPS COMMITTEE AND MANAGEMENT AND PRESIDENTS COUNCILS.

 

(4)     MONITOR AND EVALUATE BUDGET FOR NONCHAMPIONSHIPS STRATEGIC INITIATIVES.

 

(5)     Develop championships contingency fund.

 

 

b.      Consider ways to strengthen the NCAA as an Association.

 

(1) Enhance communication with Association-wide committees.

 

(2) SPONSOR ASSOCIATION-WIDE EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT SESSIONS AT 2003 CONVENTION.
