PRESIDENTS COUNCIL ACTION ITEM

ISSUE: July/August Update.
Oversight Group Action:
	Review and approve the Oversight Group’s recommendations on the work of each subgroup (championships, eligibility and recruiting, financial aid, membership and playing and practice seasons) contained in the status report. [Attachment A]
Management Council Recommendation:
	Review and approve Oversight Group's recommendations. The Council recommended the following changes to the status report document: · Expand preamble. · Identify the framework for discussion of issues. · Structure the document to provide an overview of issues and alternatives, not to identify specific outcomes.

ITEMS OF INFORMATION

1.	ISSUE:	Charge and Timeline of the Subcommittee.
Oversight Group Action:
	The Oversight Group reviewed the charge and timeline. The group eliminated its August 7 in-person meeting to provide additional time for subgroup work via conference calls in September and October. The group agreed to conduct an in-person meeting October 30, in conjunction with the Presidents Council meeting, to review all subgroup work, discuss membership communication for November and to prepare for the 2003 NCAA Convention discussion session. Management Council Action:
	Charge. The Council endorsed the charge. Timeline. The Council revised the timeline to include visits by Council members between August and December to Division III conferences and independent institutions to obtain feedback in preparation for the 2003 Convention discussion.

2.	ISSUE:	Subcommittee Roster.
Oversight Group Action:
	Subcommittee roster is presented for information. [Attachment D]
Management Council Action:
	Accepted the information.
