3.  ISSUE:

Editorial Revisions – Bylaw 31.

Committee Recommendation:

 

Editorially revise Bylaw 31 (Executive Regulations), consistent with the committee’s deregulation efforts.

 


Management Council Action:

Approved the draft legislative editorial revision to Bylaw 31 related to the Championships Committee authority.

 

4.  ISSUE:

Editorial Revision – Bylaw 13.2.4.1 (Employment of Prospects).

Committee Recommendation:

 

Editorially revise Bylaw 13.2.4.1 (employment of prospects) to clarify legislation regarding the employment of prospective student-athletes.

Approved the draft legislative editorial revision.

 

5.  ISSUE:

Interpretation – Timing of Practice for a Foreign Tour.

Committee Recommendation:

 

Re-issue the official interpretation dated April 8, 2002, to clarify whether the 10-day practice period prior to a foreign tour must be conducted over consecutive days.

Approved the re-issuance of the official interpretation dated April 8, 2002, to clarify that the 10-day practice period prior to a foreign tour must be conducted over consecutive days.

 

 

ITEMS OF INFORMATION

 

1.  ISSUE:

New Chair. 

Committee Action:

 

Garnett Purnell, athletics director at Wittenburg University, has been chosen to succeed Suzanne Coffey as committee chair.  Mr. Purnell’s term as chair will begin at the close of the 2003 NCAA Convention.

 

Management Council Action:

Accepted the information.

 


2.  ISSUE:

Incorporated Interpretations. 

Committee Action:

 

The committee agreed to incorporate a portion of the January 29, 2001, official interpretation (benefits resulting from an established relationship) to clarify the benefits resulting from an established relationship into the 2002-03 Manual.
