ISSUE:

Eligibility – U.S. Service Academies, Special Eligibility Provisions – 10-Semester/15­Quarter Rule.

Committee Recommendation:

 

Amend Bylaw 14.9.1 to specify that the NCAA Division III Student-Athlete Reinstatement Committee shall administer waiver requests of the 10-semester/15-quarter rule for student-athletes of the national service academies.

 

Management Council Action:

 

Approved the draft legislative proposal.

 

 

ITEMS OF INFORMATION

 

1.  ISSUE:

Amateurism – Competition on a Professional Team – Actual and Necessary Expenses.

Committee’s Action:

 

Amend Bylaw 12.1.1 to permit an individual prior to initial full-time collegiate enrollment to accept actual and necessary expenses associated with the individual's practice and competition on a professional team.

 

Management Council Action:

 

Previously approved the draft legislative proposal.

 

2.  ISSUE:

Amateurism – Competition with Professionals – Major Junior A Ice Hockey.

Committee’s Action:

 

Amend Bylaw 12.2.3.2.4 to specify that an individual who participates on a major junior A ice hockey team shall be subject to the seasons of competition rule regardless of when the participation on the major junior A team occurs.

3.  ISSUE:

Membership – Multidivision Classification.

Committee’s Recommendation:

 

Amend Bylaw 20.4 to specify that a Division III institution revoking multidivision classification (moving one or more sports from Division I to Division III) must complete a two-year reclassification process prior to being eligible for competition in Division III championships.
