Presidents Council Elections.

1. ISSUE:

Graduation-Rate Disclosure ? Filing Procedure (NCAA Bylaw 30.1).

Management Council Action:

 

Agreed to adopt noncontroversial legislation to specify that a member institution must submit a copy of its federal graduation-rate data [i.e., Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System Graduation Rate Survey (1PEDS-GRS-1)] directly to the NCAA national office on or before the applicable deadline established by the federal government for the submission of the federal government's copy of the report.

 

2. ISSUE:

Championships ? Women's Bowling Official Traveling Parties (Bylaw 31.4.6.4).

Management Council Action:

 

Approved the reduction of the official traveling party from 13 to 10 in women's bowling, consistent with Council authority per NCAA Constitution 5.2.31, effective immediately.

 

 

ITEMS OF INFORMATION

 

1. ISSUE:

Association-wide and Division III Committee/Subcommittee Assignments.

Management Council Action:

 

Reviewed Council 2004 committee appointments made prior to the Convention in Nashville.

 

 


 

2. ISSUE:

NCAA Association-wide Strategic Plan.

Management Council Action:

 

Reviewed the final draft Association-wide strategic plan, noting that it will be presented at the NCAA Convention Opening Business Session. The Council noted that the Division III Strategic-Planning Subcommittee will meet in late February to review and embed the divisional objectives into the Association?s plan to support the three to five year goals.

3. ISSUE:

Association-wide Playing Rules ? M/W Basketball Rules ? Three-Point Line.

Management Council Action:

 

1. Noted that the Association-wide Playing-Rules Oversight Panel is recommending that the Executive Committee deny the extension of the basketball three-point line for the 2004-05 season.

 

2. Noted that the Men's and Women's Soccer Rules Committee intends to review the substitution rule at its February meeting, based on Division III conference feedback. The Council noted that feedback from all three divisions was critical for any change.

4. ISSUE:

NCAA Ethnic Minority and Women's Enhancement Programs.

Management Council Action:

 

Discussed the legal status of NCAA minority women's enhancement programs and related Division III programs (women and minority internship programs, strategic matching alliance).
