Division II Men's Basketball Committee Duties & Responsibilities

COMMITTEE INFORMATION FOR INDIVIDUALS INTERESTED IN POSSIBLY SERVING ON NCAA COMMITTEES

NUMBER OF COMMITTEE MEMBERS:

GENERAL DUTIES OF COMMITTEE MEMBERS:

Championship season, including selections:
- Serve as chairs of respective regional committees.
- Evaluate teams throughout the season.
- Participate on numerous regional and national conference calls.
- Assist other committee members with the selection of teams and creation of the bracket.
- Approve officials assigned to work championship games.
- Staff selected championship games.
- Possibly serve as NCAA representative at regional site.
- Attend the Division II Men?s Elite Eight.
Nonchampionship season:
- Develop and review agenda items for annual meeting.
- Attend annual meeting.
- Participate on conference calls as needed.

CHAMPIONSHIP DATES AND GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES /NUMBER OF DAYS YOU ARE REQUIRED TO ATTEND:

Attend the entire championship week (arriving Monday and leaving Saturday after the championship game). The championship is held the fourth weekend in March. Committee member acts as the NCAA representative at these games.

NUMBER OF IN-PERSON MEETINGS PER YEAR (include approximate dates and days away from office):

Attend the annual committee meeting in June (four days during the second week in June).

NUMBER OF CONFERENCE CALLS PER YEAR (include the usual day of the week and average length of call):

Committee members are required to participate on approximately four national committee calls (monthly in September through December) prior to selections. Committee members also participate on weekly regional and national ranking calls, typically on Tuesday and Wednesday. The average length of calls is approximately one and a half hours.
Committee members also participate on one conference call prior to regionals and one call prior to the Elite Eight.
