Division III Field Hockey Committee Duties & Responsibilities
COMMITTEE INFORMATION FOR INDIVIDUALS INTERESTED IN POSSIBLY SERVING ON NCAA COMMITTEES
NUMBER OF COMMITTEE MEMBERS:
GENERAL DUTIES OF COMMITTEE MEMBERS:
CHAMPIONSHIP DATES AND GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES/NUMBER OF DAYS YOU ARE REQUIRED TO ATTEND:
Attend selected first-round and second/third round championship games. There are two first-round games (played on the Wednesday following championship selections) and four second/third round sites (played the Friday/Saturday or Saturday/Sunday following the first-round games). Committee members serve as the NCAA representative at these games.
Attend the championship ? arriving Wednesday for semi-final games on Friday and the final on Saturday.
NUMBER OF IN-PERSON MEETINGS PER YEAR:
Attend the annual committee meeting in January (four days ? typically the last week in January).
The chair travels to Indianapolis for championship selection.
The chair travels to the National Field Hockey Coaches? Association (two days during the first week of January).
The chair travels annually to attend a site visit at the institution/city that will serve as the next championship host (two days ? typically in May).
NUMBER OF CONFERENCE CALLS PER YEAR:
Committee members are required to participate on approximately five regional advisory calls and 6-8 national committee calls (weekly in October and November) prior to selection. The regional calls are on Mondays and the national calls are on Wednesdays.
The chair will moderate the participant call held the Monday prior to the championship semi-finals.
