NCAA Women's Gymnastics Committee Duties & Responsibilities

COMMITTEE INFORMATION FOR INDIVIDUALS INTERESTED IN POSSIBLY SERVING ON NCAA COMMITTEES

NUMBER OF COMMITTEE MEMBERS:  

• 7 (one from each of the six Division I regions and 1 representing Divisions II & III)

GENERAL DUTIES OF COMMITTEE MEMBERS:

• Championship season, including selections:
• Serve as chairs of respective regional committees.  
• Evaluate teams throughout the season.
• Participate on numerous regional and national conference calls.
• Assist other committee members with the selection of teams and creation of the bracket.  
• Staff selected regional competition (first Saturday in April).
• Attend the National Collegiate Women?s Gymnastics Championship (third week of April)
• Nonchampionship season:
• Develop and review agenda items for annual meeting.
• Attend annual meeting.  (Second week of June)
• Set up regional advisory committees for the upcoming season.
• Participate on conference calls as needed. 

CHAMPIONSHIP DATES AND GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES/NUMBER OF DAYS YOU ARE REQUIRED TO ATTEND:

• Attend the entire National Collegiate Women?s Gymnastics Championships (arriving Tuesday evening and leaving Sunday morning following the championship).  The championship is held the third Thursday through Saturday in April.  
• Attend selected regional rounds.  There are 6 regional sites.  Committee members usually arrive on Thursday night to attend practices on Friday and leave after the meet on Saturday or early Sunday.  Committee member acts as the NCAA representative at these rounds.  Regional competition is the first Saturday in April.

NUMBER OF IN-PERSON MEETINGS PER YEAR:  

• Attend the annual committee meeting in June (four days during the second week in June).  

NUMBER OF CONFERENCE CALLS PER YEAR:

• Committee members are required to participate on approximately two regional committee calls and four national committee calls prior to selection (Third week in March.)
