Division II Women's Soccer Committee Duties & Responsibilities
COMMITTEE INFORMATION FOR INDIVIDUALS INTERESTED IN POSSIBLY SERVING ON NCAA COMMITTEES
NUMBER OF COMMITTEE MEMBERS:
- 8 (one from each of the eight regions)
GENERAL DUTIES OF COMMITTEE MEMBERS:
- Championship season including selections:
- Serve as chairs of respective regional advisory committees.
- Evaluate and rank teams throughout the season.
- Participate on numerous national and regional conference calls.
- Assist other committee members with the selection of teams and creation of the bracket.
- Attend the Division II Women?s Soccer Championship.
- Nonchampionship season:
- Develop and review agenda items for the annual meeting.
- Attend annual meeting.
- Participate on conference calls as needed.
CHAMPIONSHIP DATES AND GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES/NUMBER OF DAYS YOU ARE REQUIRED TO ATTEND:
- Serve as site representatives to preliminary rounds of competition, if possible. Preliminary round competition is held the second and third weekend in November.
- Attend the Division II Women?s Soccer Championships which begins the first Thursday after Thanksgiving with finals played on Saturday (arriving Tuesday morning and departing Sunday evening or Monday morning.) Committee members assist with game operations and serve as the games committee at the championships.
NUMBER OF IN-PERSON MEETINGS PER YEAR:
- Attend the annual committee meeting in February (four days the second or third week).
- The chair attends the soccer coaches? annual meeting (two days in the second week of December.)
NUMBER OF CONFERENCE CALLS PER YEAR:
- Committee members are required to participate on weekly conference calls during the season. They are also required to complete a conference call with their regional advisory committee prior to the national conference call. These calls are usually scheduled on a Tuesday and last approximately one hour.
- Other conference calls are scheduled as necessary.
