MEN'S TENNIS COMMITTEE
COMMITTEE COMPOSITION:
GENERAL DUTIES OF COMMITTEE MEMBERS (championship administration responsibilities only; does not establish rules of play):
Select teams/individuals for the championships.
Serve as the chair for the regional advisory committee.
Participate on regional/national conference calls.
Serve as the NCAA representative at first-and second-round events.
Attend the championships.
Assist in preparation of championship schedules and other event preparations.
Assist in the preparation of supplements that are sent to the Division I Championships/Competition Cabinet.
CHAMPIONSHIP DATES AND GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES/NUMBER OF DAYS YOU ARE REQUIRED TO ATTEND (each committee member serves a four-year term, unless filling an unexpired term):

Committee members are required to participate in approximately two national conference calls prior to selections for the championships. These calls will usually be in March/April and will last 60-90 minutes.
Committee members will also conduct a minimum of two regional advisory committee (RAC) calls in late April/early May.

GENERAL DUTIES OF COMMITTEE MEMBERS:
CHAMPIONSHIP DATES AND GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES/NUMBER OF DAYS YOU ARE REQUIRED TO ATTEND:
Attend the Division I Women?s Tennis Championships (arriving on Tuesday afternoon before the start of the tournament on Thursday and leaving either on Sunday or Monday, following the team championship or on the following Saturday or Sunday, following the individual championships). Not all committee members are required to stay for the entire length of the championships. The committee ensures that all members are present through the team championship and that at least half of the committee is present through the individual championships (typically the chair and the coaches on the committee). The championship is held the third Thursday in May through the Saturday prior to Memorial Day.
Attend selected first- and second-round sites. There are 16 sites. Committee members usually arrive the day before competition to attend practices and chair the coaches? meeting and leave after the final match. Committee member acts as the NCAA representative at these games. First- and second-round sites are the second full weekend in May (either Friday-Saturday or Saturday-Sunday).
NUMBER OF IN-PERSON MEETINGS PER YEAR:
Attend the selection meeting in Indianapolis in May (arrive on Monday afternoon on the first full week in May through Thursday at noon).
Attend the annual committee meeting in July (four days, Tuesday-Friday, following the Fourth of July).
The chair attends the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Convention (two days during second full week of December).
NUMBER OF CONFERENCE CALLS PER YEAR:
Committee members are required to participate on regional advisory committee calls prior to each national call and approximately three national committee calls (April) prior to selection. The national calls are generally on Tuesdays. There are also two national calls following selections (one on Friday afternoon and one on the following Monday morning).
The chair participates on approximately three additional calls with the local organizing committee for the current year?s championship.
OTHER COMMENTS:
For the administrators on the committee, it is helpful if they have a tennis background (e.g., coach, player, etc.) or if they oversee the sport on their campus.
