Division II Men's and Women's Tennis Committee Duties & Responsibilities
COMMITTEE INFORMATION FOR INDIVIDUALS INTERESTED IN POSSIBLY SERVING ON NCAA COMMITTEES

CHAMPIONSHIP DATES AND GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES/NUMBER OF DAYS YOU ARE REQUIRED TO ATTEND:
Attend the NCAA Division II Men's and Women's Tennis Championships (arriving two days prior to the start of the championships and leaving after the conclusion of the event.) The championships start the second Thursday in May and conclude Sunday or Monday.
Attend selected first- and second-round tournaments. Committee members may serve as site representatives at one of the sites in their respective regions for first- and second-round tournaments. First- and second-round tournaments are conducted over a two-day period (Friday-Saturday or Saturday-Sunday) the week prior to the finals. If in attendance, committee members typically arrive the day prior to the start of first-round competition to attend practices and conduct a pretournament meeting. They will depart after the conclusion of the event.
NUMBER OF IN-PERSON MEETINGS PER YEAR:
Attend the annual committee meeting in July (four days during the first week in July).
The chair attends the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Convention (two days during second week of December).
The chair attends a meeting with the Division II Championships Committee (two days during the second or third week in September.
The chair also attends site visits to selected championship sites as needed (two or three days in May or June).
NUMBER OF CONFERENCE CALLS PER YEAR: Committee members are required to participate on two regional advisory committee calls and two national committee calls for each gender (in March and April) prior to selections. The regional calls are conducted the day prior to the national calls, which are on a Wednesday and Thursday. These calls typically last 60 to 90 minutes.
Committee members also participate on the selection call, which takes place Wednesday, eight days prior to the start of first-round competition. The selection call may take several hours. Selections are made for both the men's and women's championships the same day.
Prior to the start of the season, committee members are requested to participate in an introductory call in October.
OTHER COMMENTS:
Regional advisory committee experience is preferred, but not required.
Basic computer and e-mail skills are encouraged.
