NCAA Division III Wrestling Committee Duties & Responsibilities

COMMITTEE INFORMATION FOR INDIVIDUALS INTERESTED IN POSSIBLY SERVING ON NCAA COMMITTEES

NUMBER OF COMMITTEE MEMBERS:

Four

GENERAL DUTIES OF COMMITTEE MEMBERS:

Championship season including selections:

Participate in a monthly conference call the first Tuesday of every month at 12 noon Eastern time.
Chair only attends the site visit in the late summer/early (August or September).
Serve as an NCAA game representative at one of the NCAA-sponsored regionals within driving distance.
Attend the Division I and III Wrestling Championships in a work-related capacity.

Non championship season:

Continue to participate in the aforementioned monthly conference calls (calls definitely do not take place during the months of May and July; calls are only probable during the months of March and April).
Attend the annual meeting during the month of April.

CHAMPIONSHIP DATES AND GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES/NUMBER OF DAYS YOU ARE REQUIRED TO ATTEND:

Division III Wrestling Championship

Serve as a member of the games committee administering the competition. The competition is the first weekend in March as defined as Friday-Saturday. (Arrive Wednesday ? Leave Sunday; total of five days)

Division I Wrestling Championships

Serve as a member of the games committee administering the competition. The competition is the third full weekend in March as defined as Thursday-Saturday. (Arrive Tuesday ? Leave Sunday; total of six days)

Division III Wrestling Regional

Possibly serve as the NCAA game representative at one of the two NCAA-sponsored regionals. The competition can take place two weekends prior to the finals (Friday-Saturday or Saturday-Sunday). The arrival and departure times will vary based on the regional, but arrival would need to take place most likely the day prior to competition (arrival prior to medical/skin checks and mandatory coaches meeting), and departure can be immediately following the competition. As such, the number of days out of the office cannot be definitively determined.

NUMBER OF IN-PERSON MEETINGS PER YEAR (include approximate dates and days away from office):

Annual meeting - middle of April; four days for three committee members and five days out of office for the chair.

NUMBER OF CONFERENCE CALLS PER YEAR (include the usual day of the week and average length of call):

Minimum of eight calls per year, but most likely 10 calls per year on the first Tuesday of each month at 12 Noon Eastern time for approximately one hour per call.
