Nolan also works with the athletics department at various sporting events.   In the fall, he is busy keeping statistics at women's volleyball games or working the down and yardage markers at football games.  He serves as the sound technician at basketball games and also helps out at the gates at the high school playoff games hosted by Sul Ross.  Nolan was selected by the university president to represent the student body on the Quality Enhancement Program Committee.

The Monahans, Texas native is also active in the community.  This past year he helped organize a community service project of making "shower kits" and donating them to the local women's shelter.  He has assisted in a canned food drive, toy drive, and also volunteered in "Pass the Helmet," which collected money for those affected by Hurricane Katrina. He also volunteers with the local 4-H program, mentoring young 4-H'ers in their project work and helping at various city and county events.

This summer, Nolan is working as a camp counselor at the Texas 4-H Conference Center in BrownwoodTexas.

When not on the tennis court pounding serves, he can often be found held up with a good mystery book.
