Tauquir is a former tennis student-athlete at Rhode Island College.  He graduated in 2007 with a degree in biology and economics.

His excellence on the tennis court had been exceeded in the classroom, as Tauquir earned Dean's List honors every semester.  In 2005, he was the recipient of the Mary Keefe Award in Biology, which is awarded to the top student in biology in each class at Rhode Island Collegeputhawala-action In 2006, he won the Peter Harman Award in Economics, given to the top student in economics in each class.  Tauquir also worked as a math tutor at the college.

In addition to academics and athletics at Rhode Island College, Tauquir also found time to volunteer at Providence-area elementary schools that have lost funding for science curriculum. He has volunteered in the hospital emergency room and as a Sunday School teacher for young children.  

Tauquir wrote for the sports sections and worked as layout editor for the school newspaper.  In addition to volunteering for Amnesty International, he also worked as a pharmacy technician at Rhode Island Hospital.

Currently, Tauquir is a first-year medical student at SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, New York.
