A member of the Knox College softball team, Katie is gearing up for her senior season, when she will once again serve as team co-captain.  After splitting time between catcher and the outfield as a freshman, Katie emerged as a standout outfielder during her sophomore campaign and continued that trend during her junior year.  Katie has twice been named the program?s most valuable player and was also the co-recipient of the David Robinson Fan of the Year Award, which is given to the "person(s) deemed to have given Knox teams the most sincere and comprehensive support during any given year."

Katie SchneiderOutside of softball, Katie represented the team on the school's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee as a sophomore and attended the Midwest Conference meetings to represent Knox. She has been president of the SAAC since her junior year and has worked with the school's new athletics director to help improve student-athlete involvement at Knox.

Katie has helped raise attendance at games and organized trick-or-treating for canned goods at Halloween to donate to a local food pantry.  She has also organized the school's teams to buy holiday presents for less privileged children and led a trip to a local school to read books to kids.  To celebrate Student-Athlete Day, Katie and her teammates hosted a barbecue at a softball doubleheader and invited all of the school?s student-athletes and children from the local Big Brothers Big Sisters program to participate.

Katie has also helped out at the Special Olympics for the past three years and was selected as the Knox representative to the October 2006 Regional Leadership Conference.
