A 2006 graduate of the State University College at Brockport, James will begin work as a student teacher this year. After the completion of his student-teaching duties, James will be fully certified to teach physical education at the elementary through high school levels.

A two-time co-captain at Brockport State, James was part of school-record setting teams in the 200 medley relay, 400 medley relay, and 400 freestyle relay. One of the top swimmers in the conference, James finished in the top eight at the conference championships in many different races, including the 200 freestyle, 200 individual medley, 100 butterfly and a number of relays.

During his collegiate career, James participated in the Maxis Mardi Gra Parade and gave his time to local youth summer soccer leagues and the White Water Swim Club in his hometown of Niagara Falls, New York.

James received a campus-wide student leadership award through the athletics department for the 2005-06 school year.
